Carlonek Avel'ka
49. Private investigator.
ex-member of the avel'ka crime family.
History.
Carlo Avel'ka has always had a life different to those around him; a life filled with lies, desperation and death.
He grew up being dragged around smoky bars and poker houses, shady deals being made under the very tables he used to crawl around and play under. As a child of the Avel'ka crime family, he also grew up knowing loss. Uncles, aunts and family friends would disappear without a word, and he'd simply be told they 'had to go away for a while'.Funeral and 'work' wear became one and the same for the Avel'ka family for a while. As Carlo got into his teen years, he began to grow more aware of what it was his family was really up to; he'd sneak into rooms, eavesdrop into the shady bars, desperately curious to find out more about what they were really doing so he could tell the other similarly curious siblings all about it.Many of his friends were in his family; though he knew not to grow too attached as they could 'go away for a while' at any moment without a warning. Though one friend he had was Luther Vandross.Luther was always a family friend; the adoptive nephew of his uncle's ex-wife, something down the line. Either way, he was a prominent part of Carlo's childhood, and as he grew into adult years, they became even closer. Carlo, however, would never divulge much information about the Avel'ka family. He was learning more about their true activities; smuggling whiskey and other alcoholic beverages across the borders of Eorzea while foregoing any tax, paying under the table. Much to the dislike of other similar organisations trying to do the same thing.Luther, (or Lou as Carlo had become to call him), had his own life; being a live-in butler at the Picnic manor. It was part of his workplace agreement that he wasn't to divulge that he worked there to anyone - not even his best friend. As Carlo began to grow into his adult years, he started his own investigator firm, "Tapetum Ltd.". While this was a completely separate business from what his family was doing, he was still roped into Avel'ka business. His family would ask him to investigate individuals who were suspected of being a mole, or looking into rival families' warehouses with his skill in investigative work. But Carlo's heart wasn't in it.It wasn't a coincidence that the individuals he figured out to be moles would 'disappear' within a few days, and he'd find a wad of cash in a drawer in his office. It was blood money. But he had to do it, and he couldn't tell Lou. He couldn't tell anyone.
